Café Culture: A Prelude to Parisian Life

As one takes a stroll in the streets of Paris, one is greeted with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. You will definitely find more than one café on every corner. When I first moved here, I used to wonder how these businesses managed to stay afloat but 7 years later I totally get it. 

There is a piece of pie for everybody because Paris has a population of 2 million people but during the day the population swells to about 11 million people owing to the traffic from people who live in the suburbs who come to work in Paris daily and of course the tourists.

Cafés are also the ideal places to a favourite pastime of mine; 'people watching.' You can never fully integrate into a society without observing people, how they converse and their mannersims. These are ideal places to experience the true essence of Parisian joie de vivre. 

Fashion and Style: Capturing the Parisian Je Ne Sais Quoi

From the iconic haute couture houses to the chic boutiques that line the historic streets, Paris is the fashion capital of the world. One only needs to take a stroll on the most famous street; Avenue Champs Elysees to uncover the secrets of French elegance, learn about the timeless fashion staples, and discover how to infuse a touch of Parisian flair into your own wardrobe.

But the one big lesson that I have learnt from Parisian women is how to be stylish and comfortable at the same time. Sneakers and cross-body bags are my best friends.

Culinary Delights: Pleasures of the Palate

I recently had lunch at Café l'Industrie in the 11th arrondissement where I uncovered the proof that Paris is a gastronomic paradise, where hedonistic pleasures and culinary artistry merge seamlessly. The restaurant is charming and gives off a modern 1960s vibe and it's definitely the place to go to for a traditional French meal.I won't even begin to talk about the croissants, macarons, escargots, cheeses and dare I say the wines which I definitely will get into in another blog post.
